PCMA PRESENTS – 2:05 pm
Cannabis: Removing the barriers for users and investors. Inspirational, funny and deadly serious.
Royal Canadian Air Farce Alum and stand-up comedian, is back from a Stage 4 prostate Cancer diagnosis to talk openly about the link between Cannabis and Cancer that saved his life.
Toronto-born Alan Park is an actor, writer, comedian and political satirist best known for his appearances on CBC Television’s The Royal Canadian Air Farce.
His highlight reel of Air Farce caricatures include Clint Eastwood, Peter O’Toole, Barack Obama, Gordon Lightfoot, Mick Jagger, former Liberal leaders Stéphane Dion and Michael Ignatieff, and Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe.
He has been nominated for numerous Comedy Awards and Gemini Awards for writing and performing.
In January 2013 Park pulled a rib while working out at the local gym. After the nagging pain failed to subside, a trip to the emergency room revealed that Park’s discomfort was actually symptomatic of something much worse. Park, just 51 at the time, was diagnosed with Stage Four prostate cancer.
“I was too far gone for chemotherapy, too far gone for surgery, and too far gone for radiation,” Park says he was told by his prostate specialist.
Soon after the initial diagnosis, Park researched alternative therapies for his cancer and learned about a controversial treatment involving high-potency cannabis oil.
More than four years after his terminal diagnosis, Park says he is cancer-free. His last quarterly check-up revealed “perfect” markers on every test, he said.
Today, Alan is the host of Green Crush, a podcast that he uses to share his story and bust myths about cannabis.“I was refused all three doors and I found another door, and I want to show people there is one more—that you can get to this other place, and it’s not dead,” Park said
“Alan is a talented performer with a provocative message that he delivers passionately. We are looking forward to his presentation, “Cannabis: Removing the barriers for users and investors,” said Georgina Blanas, PCMA Executive Director.
